Text-to-image AI means: you describe an image in words, and AI creates it. Write "mountains at sunset, birds flying" — and the image is ready in seconds. This is now completely free.
Best free tools
- Bing Image Creator: Microsoft's free tool — free daily generations, good quality. You just need a Microsoft account.
- Leonardo.ai: daily credits on the free tier — popular with artists and designers.
- Ideogram: the best free option for images with text in them (like posters).
- Canva AI: generate images right inside your designs — perfect for thumbnails and posts.
5 rules for a good prompt
- Clear subject: instead of "a cat", write "orange cat in a garden, in sunlight".
- Name the style: "realistic photo", "cartoon", "oil painting" — it makes a huge difference.
- Lighting/mood: words like "sunset lighting" or "dark moody" change the result.
- Camera angle: "close-up", "wide shot" — the image looks professional.
- Experiment: if the first image isn't perfect, change 2–3 words in the prompt and try again.

Be careful
Don't generate an image of a real person and misuse it — that can be illegal. And for commercial work, read the tool's terms to check whether selling AI images is allowed.
